Saturday, November 10th, we returned from a very successful trip to Camp Pirque, Chile. There was a lot of work accomplished in a short period of time. But while the work done was important it pales in comparison to the growth that occurred among the individual members of our NTI team. We praise the Lord for each and every one of the people that were able to come on this trip. Even in that God’s hand and leading was evident as He paved the way for each one personally to be able to go. How about you? Are you prepared to let God work in your life and go as well?
We arrived in Santiago, the capital of Chile, Saturday, Nov. 2nd and left on the bus that very night to travel up north to Copiapo. For many of us this was the highlight of the trip as we were able to re-visit a work of which I had been a part of as a teenager. Also, three years ago we had taken another team to do some construction work on their church. While we were there we were able to take part in the celebration of Uncle George’s 100th birthday. George Black has been a faithful missionary with Gospel Mission of South America for close to 65 years. We returned back to Santiago and headed out to Camp Pirque the next day.
There was a lot of work needing to be done at the camp which has belonged to GMSA for over 20 years. Our team consisted of many people that were quite knowledgeable in the construction world, including 4 general contractors. Another couple who went down with our team traveled further down to southern Chile and, as a professional sheetrocker, was able to finish a project for a missionary there.
Some of the many things that were completed at the camp were the re-roofing of the two cabins, a lot of cement was mixed to stucco one of the cabins, three cement slabs were poured, much work was done on an exterior rock wall, and a huge log archway was built and raised up at the entrance of the camp. Among our team members were people with expertise in each of these necessary areas. Bill Park, the GMSA missionary who was coordinating things on the Chile end said there was more work completed that week than any other at the camp. Praise the Lord! We took down 14 people, including single guys and girls, some married men including the pastor of our home church, two couples, and a father and his 8-year-old son.
We thank God for a profitable trip. May we continue to be able to take down these work teams to complete jobs that are successful by heaven’s standards and not just our own.
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Jer. 33:3
