Nehemiah Teams International

Uruguay '08

We have just returned from our third mission trip where we had the pleasure of working with Dan and Becca Vallette in Paysandú, Uruguay.

I took a team of six, five were students of Cornerstone Bible Institute, to do some work on the Union de Centros Biblicos (Bible Center) campground. We left on the 29th of May and returned on the 13th of June. God was gracious and all flights went as planned without any mishaps! When we arrived at the camp we quickly saw that there was much work to be done on the future maintenance/office building, the main lodge and cabins, as well as ground work for future buildings and soccer fields.

We started on Saturday, the day after we arrived, getting the concrete forms into place. Over the course of two weeks, we were able to pour a concrete driveway and side walks and also prepare for some more brick work on the exterior of the maintenance building.
Brush piles were burned by our veteran firefighter Doug Wyatt. Joel Georgeff mixed up all of our concrete with a mixer that was showing its years, if the ingredients were not put into the machine in the right order then it would stop working and would have to be turned by hand. Corey Campbell kept Joel supplied in rock, sand, and Portland cement mix as well as delivering all the concrete with the one-wheeled truck to its proper location. Jenny Simpson and Brenda Wyatt did a tremendous job in filling in all of the gaps as well as helped out in cleaning, cooking, and painting as well as some concrete work.

Overall it was a very good trip with times for work, play, fellowship with national believers, and spiritual growth. Please pray for the continued growth of each member of this team as well as the continued work at the camp.
Please pray for upcoming trips to southern Chile this fall as well as other engagements we have between now and then. We are seeking to line up several teams to go in succession as well as raise funds for this project.  Lord willing we will send out a letter with more details soon but if you are interested in hearing more about this, or would like us to present the mission to your church, please contact us.

Excited to be in HIS service,
 Matthew Chamberland
